Procedure

Steps of Guided surgery Manufacturing at the EEC INSTITUTE

  • Step 1:

In case of partially edentulous cases or single tooth case: a Polyvinyl impression is taken. (Fig1 ). A model is poured, a wax-up done of the area in question. This waxed-up model is duplicated in hard stone. From that model, stent is built by making a sucked down plastic sheet with barium sulfate teeth in the area in question (Fig2a ).

In case of fully edentulous case: a duplicate of the denture will be made (Fig2b ).

In all cases (single, partial and fully edentulous): A templix sheet is glued to the stent or to the denture duplicate and three coordinate pins will be added regardless of the case(Fig3a , Fig3b , Fig3c ). That apparatus will be mounted to the gonyx table (Fig4 ). Once the mounting is done (Fig5 ), the templix is trimmed and the radiographical stent is ready to be delivered (Fig6a , Fig6b , Fig6c ).

  • Step 2:

The radiographical stent is tried in the mouth and a cone beam tomography (CBCT) will be taken (Fig7a , Fig7b ). If the CBCT taken in another center, a DICOM version need to be delivered to us.

  • Step 3:

The data is uploaded in the Straumann software and the study is conducted (Fig8 ).

  • Step 4:

Coordinates (Fig9a ), a surgical protocol (Fig9b ) and the Gonyx verification template (Fig9c ) are generated by the system. The Gonyx table will be set accordingly (Fig10 ).  The verification will be done using the zero table template (Fig11 ).

  • Step 5:

The surgical guide is built using either an orthodontic resin or a light cured resin (Fig12 ) and placed on the gonyx table to prepare the drilled housing for the sleeves.

  • Step 6:

The coordinates are set on the gonyx table. (See attached video )

  • Step 7:

The drilling is done using the pre-set coordinates specific for each site after verifying the accuracy using the zero table. (See attached video )

  • Step 8:

Once the hole is prepared, a sleeve will be inserted after setting up the gonyx table digital micrometer. Once the sleeve is inserted. It will be bonded using a cured light bonding (Fig13 , Fig14 , Fig15 ).

  • Step 9:

Once all the sleeves in place (Fig16 ),the guide will be trimmed and polished and prepared for delivery along with the surgical protocol (Fig17 ).
